a table with a round top is cut in half so that it can be used against a wall. After it is cut, the edge along the wall is 6 ft. what is the area A of the table after it is cut in half?

Before it is cut, you have a circle with diameter 6ft which means it had a radius of 3ft

After it is cut, you now have a semi-circle still with diameter 6ft and radius 3ft


Area \: of a \: circle = \pi {r}^(2)


Area \: of a \: semi-circle = \frac{\pi {r}^(2) }{2}
Substitute the values you have


Area = \frac{\pi * {3}^(2) }{2}
Area = 14.14ft squared
