George works for a moving company. He is paid $1 for every 1,000 Newton-meters of work. On Thursday, George used 600 Newtons of force moving a piano 80 meters. It took him 50 minutes to move the piano. How much should George get paid? How fast did he move the piano on average?

Hi!

Answer 1. $48

Step-by-step explanation:

For every 1000Nm of work, George gets paid $1. So if he moves a piano 80 meters through a force of 600N, he is doing a work of 48000Nm through the formula of work ( force (600) x distance (80m) )

So if he gets paid $1 for 1000 Nm of work, he gets paid 48000/1000 for this work, which amounts to $48.

Answer 2. 0.027 ms-1

Step-by-step explanation:

To calculate the average speed at which he moved the piano, we can apply the formula of Speed ( total distance/total time taken to cover the distance).

We can convert the time from minutes into seconds by multiplying it by the value of 60. So,

50 minutes = 50 x 60 = 3000 seconds

Using the formula of average speed,

Average speed = 80m / 3000s = 0.0266666 = ~0.027m/s

Hope this helps!
