Answer:

M(5,-8)

Explanation:

Given that,

co-ordinate A = (-4, -2)

co-ordinate B = (4, -10)

a:b = 3 : 1

Formula to use

(x)m = x1 + a/a+b (x2 - x1)

(y)m = y1 + a/a+b (y2 - y1)

x1 = -4

x2 = 4

y1 = -2

y2 = -10

a = 3

b = 1

(x)m = x1 + (a/a+b) * (x2 - x1)

= -1 + 3/4 *(4 + 4)

= 5

(y)m = y1 + (a/a+b)* (y2 - y1)

= -2 + 3/4 (-10 + 2)

= -2 + 3/4(-8)

= -8

So co-ordinates of point M = (5 , -8)
