The answer is C.lost even more control of its own affairs to Western imperial powers.

China lost the Sino-Japanese war, and was forced to make compensation with Japanese. Much capital were demanded from Japanese, which took up three years of income of the government, making the Chinese gavernment to be in dept.

To pay for the compansation, China tried to gather capital by renting ports to the other countries, and allowing the Western powers to took the right of mining as well as building railways in the mainland area. This had caused China to lose even more control of its own land.

Therefore the answer is C.lost even more control of its own affairs to Western imperial powers.

Hope it helps!
