Explanation:

The right triangle has a base of 13.2 - 8.4 = 4.8 and a height of 8

For right triangles, the height is the length of either leg, the base will be the leg that you didn't choose for the height.

The area of a triangle is calculated by A = (1/2)bh

So the triangle has an area of

A = (1/2)(4.8)(8) = 19.2 cm²

The rectangle has an area of

A = LW, A = 8(8.4) = 67.7 cm²

So the total area is 19.2 cm² + 67.7 cm² = 86.9 cm²
