If the strand of DNA with the sequence TGA, is mutated to GGA it is a missense mutation.
The DNA sequence TGA will have the codon ACU in the RNA and, GGA will have the codon CCU.
The codon ACU codes for threonine, and the codon CCU codes for proline.
Thus, the mutation is causing the formation of a
different protein (proline instead of threonine)
therefore, the mutation is a
missense mutation.
