For this case, the first thing we must do is find the perimeter of the rectangle.

For this, we use the equation:

P = 2w + 2l

Where,

  • w: width of the rectangle
  • l: length of the rectangle

Substituting values we have:

P = 2 (36) +2 (28)\\P = 128 feet

We add hour the amount of foot gate on one end:

5 + P = 5 + 128 = 133 feet

Then, the remaining amount of fencing is:

150 - 133 = 17 feet

Answer:

Jim has a remaining amount of 17 feet of fencing
