Answer: D) x - 0.2 x also describes the discounted price, in dollars, of the hat.

Explanation:

Since, the marked price of the hat = x,

The percentage discount on the price of the hat = 20 %,

Thus, the discount = 20 % of the marked price

= 20 % of x

=(20* x)/(100)

= 0.2 x

Hence, the new price of the hat = Marked price - Discount

= x - 0.2 x

Which is the required expression which is equivalent to 0.8x.
