Explanation:

The angles of a parallelogram add to 360 degrees. Opposite angles are also equal. Using these two facts write two equations.

2x + 2x + x + 30 + x+30 = 360

6x + 60 = 360

6x = 300

x=50

Now you can write the equation 3y-20 = x + 30 and substitute x = 50 into it.

3y - 20 = 50 + 30

3y - 20 = 80

3y = 100

y = 100/3 = 33.333...
