The main goal of Japanese modernization to develop Japan in technology and industrial. With the overthrown of the Tokugawa shogunate, led in the rise of Meiji government. The government introduced the westernization in the country along with changing things like clothing. The reason for the modernization in Japan was the fear of Western colonial powers, dominating the country just like China ended up.
