6p + 5p + 5 = - 8 - 2(p + 12)

Step 1: Distribute -2 between p and 12

6p + 5p + 5 = - 8 - 2p - 24

Step 2: Combine like terms i.e (6p +5p) (-8-24)

11p + 5 = - 32 - 2p

Step 3: Combine like terms across the equation (11p+2p)

13p + 5 = - 32

Step 4: Subtract 5 from each side

13p = - 37

Step 5: Divide out 13 from each side

p = - 2.8
