Step 2: Find the area of the non-shaded region

It's a triangle so A = (1/2)bh

It's also a right triangle, so the height is also the side length

A = (1/2)(4)(4) = 8 cm²

Step 3: Subtract the area of the non shaded region from the shaded region

A = 64 cm² - 8 cm² = 56 cm²
