How can you rewrite the number 1 as 10 to a power?

To rewrite 1 as 10 to a power, you'd write 10^0 (ten to the power of zero).

Any non-zero number with the power of zero equals one. You might be wondering why, so to prove this theorem...

Since the numbers are the same on the numerator and denominator, we can agree that the fraction above is equal to 1, yes? It is also equal to...

2^1-1

...because of the quotient rule. And what does 1-1 equal? 0. So you'd get

2^0

This is known as the "zero-exponent rule!"
