3x + y = -8

-3x -3x

y = -3x - 8

Choose values for x, then input that value into the equation to solve for y:

\begin {array}c\underline{\ x\ }&\underline{\ -3x-8=y\ }&\underline{\ Coordinate\ }\\0&-3(0)-8=-8&(0,-8)\\1&-3(1)-8=-11&(1,-11)\\2&-3(2)-8=-14&(2,-14)\\3&-3(3)-8=-17&(3,-17)\\4&-3(4)-8=-20&(4,-20)\\5&-3(5)-8=-23&(5,-23)\\6&-3(6)-8=-26&(6,-26)\\7&-3(7)-8=-29&(7,-29)\\8&-3(8)-8=-32&(8,-32)\\9&-3(9)-8=-35&(9,-35)\\\end{array}

FYI: Do you see the pattern?

Each time you add 1 to the x-value, you subtract 3 from the y-value.
