A tragedy usually includes a "bad ending" such as a character dying or a pet dying etc. A comedy is humor, or "funny" material. A tragedy example is romeo and juliet, with both of them dying at the end. A comedy, in the form of a show, would be Sienfield or F.r.i.e.n.ds.

Hope this helps.

Answer: In a comedy the protagonist is put into funny situations that lead to a happy ending, while in a tragedy the main character suffers bad luck and loss
