Answer:

360 miles

Explanation:

Every half inch on the map equal 45 miles on the highway. Find out how many half-inches there are in 4 inches, and multiply that by 45 to get the answer.

To do this, first divide 4 by 0.5

4/0.5 = 4/(1/2) = 4(2/1) = 8

There 8 half-inches in 4 inches

**Also think that there are 2 halves in 1, so in 4 there are 2(4) halves, which is 8

Now take 8 and multiply by 45

8(45) = 360

The highway is 360 miles long
