The Indian independence movement consisted of a series of revolutions that began in 1857 and came to en end under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi between 1942 and 1945, as well as the invasion of the British India by the national army commanded by the Subbash Chandra Bose during world war II. independence was finally achieved on august 14, 1947.
