In the problem. N+1=4(n-8)... the main goal is to isolate the variable(n) so, I would first distribute 4.. thus meaning 4•n + 4•-8=4n + - 32.... this works because of the distributive property. This would leave u with 4n + -32=n +1.... seeing that there was like terms in both side of the equation... I can cancel the n out of the other side; 1= (4n-n) -32, which is the same as 1=3n-32.... you can do the same with the whole numbers.... cancel the -32 out of one side by adding 32 to both sides; 33=3n and then easily u can find that 3•11= 33 so n=11
