Help me out, please. Getting really lost on this!!

The graph of g(x) is f(x) translated to the left 8 units and up 2 units. What is the function rule for g(x) given f(x)=x^2?

Answer:

g(x) = (x+8)^2 + 2

Explanation:

g(x) = (x+8)^2 + 2 would do this.

That (x+8) indicates translation to the left; (x-8) would indicate translation to the right. The +2 indicates translation 2 units up.
