Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

x = 3

Discussion:

If the triangles are congruent, then the hypotenuse's have the same length. That is,

13 = 4x + 1 => subtract 1 from both sides

13 -1 = 4x => 13 - 1 = 12

12 = 4x => divide both sides by 4

12/4 = 3 = x

Thank you,

MrB

Answer:

x = 3

Explanation:

Since the triangles are congruent, that means all sides are equal.

4x + 1 = 13

Subtract 1 from 13

4x = 12

Divide 12 by 4

x = 3
