Suppose the equation of the axis of symmetry for a quadratic function is x = -1 and one of the x-intercepts is 7. What is the other x-intercept?

8 units to the right of the axis of symmetry is x = 7, being one of your x-intercepts. Then 8 units to the left would be x = -9. Making x = -9 your missing x-intercept.
