They delay long term processes in the body during crisis such as digestion, growth, and reproduction. Glucocorticoids hormones are secreted by adrenal glands to reestablish homeostasis by mediating the primary response to stress. Glucocorticoids suppress high levels of stress and may lead to tissue damage if left unchecked.
