Please help.. so so desperate.. what is the value of x?

Set up a ratio:

5/3 = 40 / 2x+10

Cross multiply:

5(2x+10) = 3(40)

Simplify:

10x+50 = 120

Subtract 50 from each side:

10x = 70

Divide both sides by 10:

x = 70/10

x = 7
