The rain forests on the Olympic Peninsula are rain forests from the mid latitudes, thus not the stereotypical tropical rain forests.

They do have a lot of rainfall, pretty much every day of the year. The reason for that is that this area is heavily influenced by the warm and moist air masses from the Pacific Ocean. These air masses also contribute to a relative stability in the temperatures, as the summers are fresh and pleasant without high temperatures, while the winters are mild and the temperatures bellow zero are very rare.

This makes these rain forests to have very dense vegetation, and high biodiversity.
