To solve the system of equations, find the intersection point. To do this, graph it using y=mx+b to guide you.

b is the y-intercept and the starting point of the line. y=-2x+8 has b=8. So start on the y-axis at 8. Mark a point. From this point move according to the slope m=-2 which is down two units and to the right one unit. Mark point and connect.

Repeat with y = 1/2 x + 1/2. Start at 1/2 or 0.5 on the y-axis. Mark the point. From this point move up 1 unit to 1.5 and to the right 2 units to 2. Mark point and connect.

Continue drawing the lines till they connect. See graph attached. The intersection is (3,2).
