Answer:

2/6 quart or 1/3 quart

Explanation:

Each of these fractions already have a common denominator, so we can add the numerators to get the amount of ice cream eaten in total. 1/6+3/6=4/6. Now, we have the option to simplify or not, most teachers want you to simplify. 4/6 simplifies to 2/3 (every 2/6 is 1/3). That is how much has been eaten. To find out how much is left, take the original value and subtract the amount eaten. 1 quart (or 6/6 or 3/3) - 2/3 (or 4/6) = 2/6 or 1/3.

Answer:

  • Connor has 1/3 ice cream left to finish.

Solution:

  • 1 quart = 6/6 quart of ice cream
  • => 6/6 - 1/6 = Remaining ice cream left on Friday night = 5/6 quarts
  • => 5/6 - 3/6 = Remaining ice cream left on Saturday night = 2/6 quarts
  • 2/6 = 1/3 (Simplification)

Hence, Connor has 1/3 ice cream left to finish.
