United States presidents are elected by the citizens of the US. Organized polls are set up in which citizens vote for their favorite candidate.

Legit just go to USA.gov and it’ll give you the answer. The previous answer before me ignores the electoral college. The election begins with the primary elections and caucuses and moves to nominating conventions. Each party selects one candidate to unite behind. During the general election Americans go to the polls to cast a vote. This is the popular vote and does not determine the winner. A presidential candidate must get the majority of electoral votes in order to win. Each states political parties choose their electors and each state has a different number of electors based on population.
