Answer:

Total sap produced that day is 5 gallons.

Explanation:

Given : Some marks on number line representing sap produced that day.

We need to find the total sap the trees produced that day.

We just need to add all the marks together.

Here,
(1)/(4) sap produced three times, so sap produced
3* (1)/(4)=(3)/(4)

(3)/(8) sap produced two times, so sap produced
2* (3)/(8)=(6)/(8)=(3)/(4)

(5)/(8) sap produced four times, so sap produced
4* (5)/(8)=(20)/(8)=(10)/(4)

1 sap produced one times, so sap produced is 1 .

Now adding all saps together to get total sap produced =
(3)/(4)+(3)/(4)+(10)/(4)+1

taking LCM (4,4,4) = 4 , we get ,

\Rightarrow (3+3+10+4)/(4)=(20)/(4)=5

Thus, total sap produced that day is 5 gallons.
