Me. James has a 6-square-foot bulletin board and a 12-square-foot bulletin board. She wants to cover both boards with index cards without gaps or overlaps. Each index card has an area of 1/4 square foot. How many index cards does she need?

Area of second bulletin board = 12 square foot

So, Number of index cards needs for first bulletin board is given by

Number of index cards needed for second bulletin board is given by


(12)/((1)/(4))\\\\=12* 4\\\\=48

Hence, Number of index cards she needed is given by


48+24\\\\=72
