Mrs Grey is buying decorative ribbon of three different colors: blue, silver, and yellow. Blue ribbon is sold in rolls of 15 meters, silver is sold in rolls of 12 meters, and yellow comes in rolls of 20 meters. She needs to have the same length of each ribbon. What is the smallest number of rolls of each type that she should buy?

Answer: There are 4 blue ribbons, 5 silver ribbons and 3 yellow ribbons.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

Length of blue ribbon is sold in rolls = 15 m

Length of silver ribbon is sold in rolls = 12 m

Length of yellow ribbon is sold in rolls = 20 m

We need to find the smallest number of rolls of each type :

For this we will find "L.C.M of 15,12 and 20".

L.C.M of 15,12 and 20 = 60

So, Number of rolls of blue ribbon is given by

(60)/(15)=4

Number of rolls of silver ribbon is given by

(60)/(12)=5

Number of rolls of yellow ribbon is given by

(60)/(20)=3

Hence, there are 4 blue ribbons, 5 silver ribbons and 3 yellow ribbons.
