Simplify the expression 1+4.25n+3/2p-3+(-2p)+5/4n

The simplification of the expression is ( 11/2)n - (1/2)p - 2

Algebraic expressions are expressions with unknown. It is linear when the highest power of the unknowns is 1.

Simplifying 1+4.25n + 3/2p - 3 + ( -2p) + 5/4n

it will be easier if we can convert the fractions to decimals.

1 + 4.25n + 1.5p - 3 - 2p + 1.25n

collect like terms

1-3 + 4.25n + 1.25n + 1.5p - 2p

-2 + 5.5n - 0.5p

= 5.5n - 0.5p - 2

=( 11/2)n - (1/2)p - 2

Therefore the simplification of the expression is ( 11/2)n - (1/2)p - 2
