1,If 1 − x, x + 3 and 2x + 1 are consecutive terms of an A.P, then find the common

difference.

Explanation:

Since they are consecutive terms in an AP,

(1 - x) + (2x + 1) = 2(x + 3).

=> x + 2 = 2x + 6

=> x = -4.

Therefore the terms are 5, -1 and -7.

=> Common difference = -6.
