Answer: 40% increase

The team won 6 more games than the previous year since 21-15 = 6

Divide this change over the original number to get 6/15 = 0.40 = 40%

if we were took 40% of 15, we would get 0.40*15 = 6

So "an increase of 40%" means we add on 6 to 15 to get 15+6 = 21 which is the proper updated win total. A shortcut is to multiply by the value 1.40 since 100% + 40% = 1+0.40 = 1.40; therefore 1.40*15 = 21

--------------

A formula you can use is

P = 100*(x-y)/y

P = percent change

x = new amount (21 in this case)

y = old amount (15 in this case)

Answer:

29 percent

Explanation:

you do 15/21 times 100 then minus that number from 100 so

15/21 times 100= 71------>100-71=29%
