A rectangular picture measures 82 cm by 75 cm. It has a border 7 cm wide around it. What is the area of the border?

you find the total area of the picture and border, 75×82, then find the area of the picture without the border by subtracting 7 from each side. that gives you 61×68. from there you have 6,150 for the picture and border, and 4,148 for just the picture. subtract the area of the picture from the area of the picture and border and you get just the border, 2,002cm squared
