Part A

"A school did a survey among 100 students" means we have 100 people total, so I = 100 which goes in the lower right hand corner of the table. This is the grand total.

-------------

"out of 77 people who liked football, 48 also liked baseball". So this means C = 77 and A = 48. Because of this, we know...

A+B = C

48+B = 77

B = 77-48

B = 29

Therefore 29 people like football, but do not like baseball.

-------------

"There were 65 people who liked baseball" means G = 65 which is the total for the "baseball" row.

Use A = 48 and G = 65 to find the value of D

A+D = G

48+D = 65

D = 65-48

D = 17

We have 17 people who like baseball but do not like football.

-------------

If G = 65 and I = 100, then H = I-G = 100-65 = 35

Similarly, if B = 29 and H = 35, then E = H-B = 35-29 = 6

Finally, F = D+E = 17+6 = 23

-------------

Summary:

A = 48

B = 29

C = 77

D = 17

E = 6

F = 23

G = 65

H = 35

I = 100

The table is attached to show how it looks when you replace all the letters with their proper values.

Part B

Focus on E = 6 which represents 6 people who do not like either sport. This is out of 100 total people. So 6/100 = 0.06 = 6% is the percentage who dislike either sport.

Answer: 6%

Part C

H = 35 people do not like baseball

F = 23 people do not like football

Answer: There is a greater dislike for baseball.
