2. The plot represents a function that is continuous at
x=a - that is, there are no breakages in plotted curve - so


\displaystyle\lim_(x\to a)f(x)=f(a)=b

4. Unlike in (2), there is a jump discontinuity which makes the limit as
x\to a non-existent.
