For this case we have to:

1 megabyte is defined as
10 ^ 6bytes

1 gigabyte is defined as
10 ^ 9 bytes

We want to know how many megabytes there are in a gigabyte. For this we divide:

\frac {10 ^ 9} {10 ^ 6}

By power properties we have:

\frac {10 ^ 9} {10 ^ 6} = 10 ^ {9-6} = 10 ^ 3

So we have that in a gigabyte there is one megabyte plus one kilobyte.

Checking:

10 ^ 6 * 10 ^ 3 = 10 ^ {6 + 3} = 10 ^ 9

Answer:

1 megabyte
