Note that: (x , y) = (0 , -2) & m (slope) = -3

Plug in the corresponding numbers to the corresponding variables:

-2 = (-3)(0) + b

Simplify. Solve for b.

-2 = 0 + b

Plug in -3 for m (given) & -2 for b (the answer we got) to the original form:

y = -3x - 2 is your answer
