Answer:

x = 1/3

Explanation:

Given equation is:

3(x-1)-2(2x+1) = 8(x-1)

We have to find the value of x.

Open parentheses of above equation using multiplication,we get

3x-3-4x-2 = 8x-8

Separating terms of x,we get

3x-4x-8x = 3+2-8

Adding like terms, we get

-9x = -3

Dividing by -9 to both sides of above equation,we get

-9x/(-9) = -3/(-9)

x = 1/3

Hence, the value of x is 1/3.

Answer:

x = 1/3

Explanation:

3(x – 1) – 2(2x + 1) = 8(x – 1)

Distribute

3x-3 -4x -2 = 8x-8

Combine like terms

-x-5 = 8x-8

Add x to each side

-x+x-5 = 8x+x-8

-5 = 9x -8

Add 8 to each side

-5+8 = 9x-8+8

3 = 9x

Divide each side by 9

3/9 = 9x/9

1/3 =x
