Newton's’ Second Law Practice

1. A bowling ball rolls down the lane at 2.3 m/s2 . If the ball weighed 14 kg, what is the force of the ball?

2. A car races at 6.4 m/s2 and has a force of 1473N. How much does it weigh?

3. A Turtle has a force of 94N. If he weighs 45Kg, how fast is he accelerating?

1. F=ma

Here we have an acceleration = 2.3 and a mass = 14

So...

F = (14)(2.3)

F = 32.2 N

2. F = ma

Here we have an acceleration = 6.4 and a force = 1473

Rearrange your equation for m

F/a = m

1473 / 6.4 = m

m = 230.16 kg

3. F = ma

Here we have a force = 94 and a mass = 45

Rearrange for acceleration

F/m = a

94 / 45 = a

a = 2.09 m/s^2
