The actual binding energy is 8.48 Mev

Explanation;

The nucleus of tritium contains one proton and two neutrons,

Therefore; For the Tritium nucleus, the binding energy may be computed as shown below:

Total mass of 1 protons = 1 × 1.00728 = 1.00728 amu

Total mass of 2 neutrons = 2 × 1.00866 = 2.01732 amu

Total mass of nucleons = 3.02460amu

Atomic mass of tritium = 3.01605 amu

Mass defect Dm = 0.00855 amu

But; 1 amu =931.5 MeV

Thus; Binding energy of Tritium = 0.00855 amu × 931.5 MeV/amu

= 7.964325 MeV, approximately closer to the actual 8.48 MeV.
