There is a numerical order to do this.

You always start with the paratheses, so we have to evaluate whats inside the paratheses.

If a is 4 and you need to raise it to the power of two. It would be 16.

if ab is 4 * 3, then it's 12. 16 + 12 = 28.

Then you multiply 3.14 * 28 = 87.92

(If you confused about 4 raised by two. It's another way to say we need to find out what 4 to the power of 2 is. Meaning 4 is a base of an exponent value. The 2 is not there as to the fact of multiplication, it's an exponent number :)

when a=4 and b=3,

3.14((4 x 2)+ (4 x 3)) = 3.14(8+12) = 3.14 x 20 = 62.8
