C. The sun's energy arrives as radiation with a wide range of wavelengths and shorter wavelengths have more energy.
Even visible sunlight, a small segment of the sun's electromagnetic radiation, contains multiple wavelengths. We see this every time we see a rainbow. Also, the shortest visible light is violet. Shorter still is ultraviolet radiation that has enough energy to give us sunburns. Even shorter waves, x-rays, are so powerful they pass right through solid objects.
