The State Health Agencies are involved in providing direct care for community members in various ways, examples of such direct care include vaccinations for community members.
Prevent and control the spread of disease and injury in the community, and also receive, record and report any notifiable diseases.
Carry out environmental inspections, create environmental protection/pollution control and ensure that communities are kept clean so as to prevent disease breakout.
Provide social services and welfare for their immediate community this could include caring for mentally ill people, the elderly people, and children who are abused, neglected or without support.
