I can't decide between B and C

Why did the Puritans leave England?

The Puritans were English Protestants who were interested in purifying the Church of England of its lingering Catholic influences. They maintained the church had not been fully purified. The best answer in C not B. The Puritans were not Catholics. England was Protestant and associated with the Church of England.

The answer is C because, the Puritans left England in protest of the Church of England out of fear of persecution and prosecution
