Theodore Roosevelt Jr. was the 26th president of the United States from 1901 to 1909. As a leader of the Republican Party, he championed his “Square Deal” domestic policies which focused on the conservation of natural resources, the control of corporations, as well as the protection of consumers. During the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt, the US government protected businesses by breaking up a railroad trust. What is more, Theodore Roosevelt's progressive approach pursued to break up large business monopolies which allowed him to earn the nickname “Trust Buster.”
