What is the drawback of a member of Congress voting as a partisan

Partisan voting is when a representative of constituents (the people who vote for the representative) votes on laws that are from their party and against the opposing party. The want to vote for laws that will oppose the party they aren't from. In simple terms The member's vote may not represent all of the people he or she serves. Hope this helps!
