After Johnson was convicted, the supreme court could not find the two-thirds majority necessary to impeach him, so he did not get impeached, but instead he was able to stay in office,

During the trial 35 senators voted guilty and 19 not guilty. This was not enough to fulfill the 2/3 majoirty guilty vote.
