Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

a = 2.7

Discussion:

(2/3) ( 6a + 9 ) = 16.8 => the Distributive law

(2/3) (6a) + (2/3)9 = 16.8 =>

4a + 6 = 16.8 => subtract 6 from both sides

4a = 16.8 -6 = 10.8 (divide both sides by 4)

a = 10.8/4

= 2.7

Thank you,

MrB
