Explain why the moon isn't really shining

Here is a short explaination for you.

the moon is not really shining becuase the sun is behind it producing the light we see at night. So the moon is just a rock floating in space and when time is right the moon aligns with the sun producing what we know as moonlight.

i hope this gives an idea as to why the moon is not really shining. :)
